Stanleys going home…….

Today the Stanleys are packing their bags and slipping into their envelopes ready for their flights home. The girls and boys in 2H have really enjoyed hosting their visits and hope the children in each of the Stanleys classes enjoy reading about life in Australia.

3 Stanleys and Max run in ‘Cross Country’ Event!

Friday, March 30 dawned bright and sunny after a cloudy and wet day Thursday – perfect conditions for Thirroul Public School’s Annual Cross Country races.

Class 2H were lucky enough to have Stanleys from Canada and England and Ireland run with them, as well as ‘Flat Max’ , also from Canada.

You will be pleased to hear that everyone had a great morning and all finished the 800m course!

This weekend is Thirroul’s annual ‘Seaside Festival’ and I’m sure the  Stanleys and Max will be visiting lots of stalls, trying out some great food, listening to some fantastic music, watching the dancing and no doubt having some rides. They may even be able to have ‘Brekky on the Beach’ at the local Surf Club on Sunday.

Next Wednesday we will have many of our students grandparents visiting the school and we are all looking forward to the drawing of the Easter Egg raffles – maybe one of the Stanleys will win!

2H will no doubt be holding their regular ‘Egg Rolling Competition’ during the week, so we will let you know how that goes.

After such an action packed week, the Stanleys ( and Max) will be glad that we will be having a 2 week holiday from school…they may even pack their bags and start their journeys home, their suitcases full of memories, letters and photos from their adventures from ‘downunder’!

Will talk soon…..

Three Stanleys have arrived!

We have just welcomed the safe arrival of 3 Stanley visitors – from Ireland, USA, Canada. Each Stanley is feeling the heat at the moment as they are not used to our hot and humid February! Still, the ocean was warm at 23 degrees celsius today (Sunday Mar 4th) so they were able to cool off a little!

We have been asked about the animals of Australia and I have included some links below…. our pets are much the same as our northern hemisphere friends….cats, dogs, rabbits, birds , guinea pigs , maybe some children have a lizard ( blue tongue, water dragon or a shingleback for example!) but only if they have a special permit.

Kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and wombats are mainly in the country or more rural areas – although Thirroul on the south coast is not too far away – we are called a ‘regional’ area, whereas Syney is a ‘metropolitan’ area.

Will keep you posted on how the Stanleys are getting on!

Here are some links to our animals…..

Hello world!

Hi!

We are students from 2H at Thirroul Public School, NSW Australia. We are keenly awaiting the arrival of our first Flat Stanley and will report on his adventures after he has settled in. It is still summer here so Stanley will probably enjoy a surf with us after school. We can see the ocean from our classroom window!!

We will upload some photos shortly……
